Avoiding damage to buried services
Damage to buried services by contractors, when undertaking excavation for general utility work, is a substantial problem which can lead to injury and death.
Any HSE inspector will expect plans or other suitable information about the location of buried services to be obtained before any excavation starts. See HSE Guideline publication HSG47.
